One More Post About Easter

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Early March I stopped in Michael’s.  They had a sale on these little bird houses.  They were unpainted.  They were $1.00 each.  I went home.

It was a few days,  maybe a week  later that I found myself back in Michael’s.  I had to have 12 of those cute little houses.  Didn’t know how I would paint them or exactly how I would use them.  Or even if I would have as many as 12 guests.

I did know they belonged on my Easter Table 2009.

The first coat was the easy part.

My first attempt to paint them was awful.  I wanted to use too many ideas at once and yet have them all linked in some way.

G.G. observed.

She knew I would eventually get it right.

My daughters and sister kept asking, “What’s on the menu?  What can I bring?”

Paintbrush in hand, I’d say, “I don’t know.”

After painting all 12 houses, it was time to put on a finish coat.

I guess I should have been wearing a mask as well as goggles!

The menu turned out to be very plain.  No fancy sauces.

I didn’t even glaze the ham.

Jan and Kim added the fancy stuff.  The Easter Bread and a fruit jello salad.

I filled the bird houses with chocolate eggs   🙂    and painted the name place cards to match the houses.   My poor guests had to endure my bland fare and my delight in my creation of silly little bird houses.

Oh! my.

Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

G.G. had been working diligently to finish the sweater you see here on Chris.

G.G. wanted it ready for Chris to wear on Easter.

Chris had admired the sweater Jan is wearing, and asked G.G. to make one for her.

Job well done, G.G.!
