First Installment

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

The neighbors that live next to Chris have begun the process of building a new house on their property.  Up grading the neighborhood!
Last week I noticed some holes in their roof.DSC06899

The first step, of course, is taking out the existing house.

They contacted the fire department and offered their house up for a training exercise.  Told the FD that they were welcome to burn it to the ground.  ( I guess the FD is about saving properties, so they didn’t burn it to the ground.)
I came home Tuesday night to find the property looking like this:

I took this photo on my way to work on
Wednesday morning. Would have liked to have taken a ton more photos but, well, I did have to get to work

and it WAS raining.   🙂
When I got home on Wednesday, they had cleared the wood and debris and were clearing a foundation.
This video is for all the side walk superintendents in my posting audience….(and me!)

I’m calling this the First Installment because I’m sure I will be posting the progress of the new house.  After all, I am a huge sidewalk superintendent.

More Birthdays

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

Don’t know how I got so far behind.

We had someone turn 91 last month and in October we had someone turn 2!  We will also be celebrating some ones first birthday soon.  How will I keep up with all this activity?

Jack’s 2nd birthday party was a great success.

The paparazzi lined up for photos.

Trains were the theme of the day.

The hit of the party was the train table.  Both Jack and Ted gave it a thorough test! But, Ted didn’t even stick around for cake when he saw the train table. Guess he thought he had to get plenty of “train time” in before he returned to NC.

There was fun and laughter and singing.

We celebrated GG’s birthday at Milton’s and Jan’s.

We had lunch at a darling little restaurant in the middle of an apple orchard.

After lunch  we headed off  to a different orchard to pick!

Milton keeps several laying hens.  Milton brought Molly in to say “hello” to Jack.

There IS no better weather than we had to pick apples!

2009-9-26 GG's 91st b-day party 023

For GG’s birthday we went apple picking.  The orchard was so beautiful.  The sun was very bright.  It was a perfect day to celebrate 91 years!
