Here’s a little quiz for you:

Both boys have been photographed with GG.

Jack on 10/18/07 and Benjamin on 1/30/11.

Can you guess which is which?

Here is baby “A”

and now baby “B”

And, no, we didn’t pose any of these!

Once again,  Baby “A”

And here’s Baby “B”

(looks like GG’a lap is a pretty comfy place to nap)

Now here is the answer!

If you haven’t already guessed.

Thanksgiving 2010

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

Jan, Leah, and Cory invited us to their home for dinner this year.

So we packed up the baby and the old lady and headed north. 🙂

Actually, Kim and Anne packed up the “baby” and we picked up GG. 🙂

It was a pleasant day … no snow! or rain, and the company was delightful.  It had been quite some time since we had seen Emily.  Alex said he and Carol had not seen Jack since GG’s 90th birthday party!  It was nice to get caught up with everyone.

The turkey was especially tasty.  Jan thinks it is “letting it sit for an hour before carving” that lets the molecules ….? something about commingling or something.   LOL

We believed her.  She taught science at Lowell High School.

Someone let Jack take some photos with my camera.  I’ve got to admit, at 3 he takes some pretty good snaps!

Here he has captured his beautiful “Auntie”.

After the main course some of us hopped up and took care of the first round of dishes. (Not me!  I got up when they were nearly done and took photos. 🙂 )

The Patriots were playing Detroit during dinner. 🙁

But the fans were good about dashing to the TV room when there was a lag in the dinner presentations.

Some fans didn’t want to cooperate for the photos!

At last it was time for dessert!  Jack had helped his Moms bake a cranberry raisin pie for GG.  Auntie Jan thought that merritted some praise.

For dessert we were offered apple pie, chocolate cheese cake, cranberry raisin pie, pecan pie, and pumpkin cheese cake.

The Covell-Barretts do love a good dessert. 🙂

It was a great day.  The Turkey did it’s job. 😉

Then it was time to go home.

GG gives Jack a ride on her “red Cadillac”.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Edward Barrett Pie Race

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

This year Gram was recovering, very nicely,  I might add,  from bronchitis.

So Kim,  Jack,  and I were on our own to be the “Barrett” representation at the race.

The weather man had promised rain and wind.  The rain had cleared out early in the day, not to return until evening. But the wind kept up just the same.  Fortunately, it wasn’t terribly cold.

I didn’t get too many photos.  I’m sure the official photographer from St. Andrews got some good stuff.

Race is over. Now it is time for pie. 🙂

Jack getting the best from a playground designed for 8 and older.

(Paul and Jan, Remember the old monkey bars?)

Bringing home a pie for GG.

Another Pie Race run.

Last Friday, October 15th.

Dylan is a Grad!

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

I did get my camera out at the party, but really didn’t get too many photos.

No good ones of the Graduate.

I should have lined folks up and been the “official photographer”.

Here are the best of the batch:

Paul is dishing up marinated shrimp that he grilled.  It was a big seller.

A warm beautiful day to celebrate Dylan’s accomplishment.

Mothers’ Day 2010

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

There were 5 Mothers at our Mothers’ Day gathering.

But it was all about me, right?

Well, these are the only photos I have!  I didn’t get behind the camera at all that day.  I don’t know what is wrong with me lately.

Any way.

My daughters were too generous!  and there were wonderful gifts from them all.

Kim,  Anne,  and Jack put together a  gift that brought me to tears.

Well, at first it was astonishment, but then tears.

You see, I have made up some songs that I sing to Jack and Ted.  The boys are learning them!  But the most astonishing thing is that Kim put them together in this adorable collage.

Oh!  I did actually get behind the camera for a few photos of Jack in his spiffy, black suit jacket.

I apologize to all the other Mothers at our party, Ruth and Pat and Kim and Anne.  I do wish I had taken a few more photos.  I always like a good group photo and I just didn’t get it together.

Hope all had a great day, and didn’t get blown away by all that wind!

Happy Spring.

Yipe! Skype!

GG’s Digs

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

For those of you who have not yet had a chance to visit GG in her new home, here are a few snaps of the place.  We still need to hang photos and curtains, but for the most part, all the furniture is settled.  Oh, I may bring my plant stand over for her.  That is if it will fit. 🙂

Jan and GG picked out the table and chairs at Christmas Tree Shop.  We needed Kim and Anne’s car to actually get it to GG’s new home.  She loves the way the table and chairs coordinate with the kitchenette.

I hope to get the other 3 chairs built soon.  🙂

Oh Yeah!  GG was all about the ‘big screen TV”.  Gotta keep up with the 21st century.

Pie Race

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

With autumn comes the ECB Pie Race.

I have a few cute photos of GG, Kim, and Jack, but check Kim’s site ( the link is: on the side of my post)  for a video of the start of the race!  You’ll get a surprise!

2009-11-19 Pie Race 001

GG’s chauffeur was Clive.

Kim Jack and I “walked” the course this year…. we started small.

2009-11-19 Pie Race 003

It was fun.  But, really, check Kim’s site for more photos.

After pie and cider we all headed to our respective homes.  Good times!

O.K. Kim and Jack.  Next year do we run?  🙂

Halloween 2009

Trick or Treat ?

This year we had the pleasure of accompanying Jack on his first trick or treat foray.

While we did the ‘hoofing around’ with Jack, we had a very special person ‘hold down the fort’ and hand out the candy.

2009-10-31 Halloween 009

And a fine job she did!

2009-10-31 Halloween 003

Unfortunately, ding bat, Grammie still had her camera set on landscape so most of our photos from this auspicious occasion came out blurry. 🙁

After some ‘warm up’ trick or treat trips to the front doors of neighbors, we stopped at the community hall for refreshment.

2009-10-31 Halloween 014

Along the way we were stopped by the local constabulary.  He asked if we had light sticks.  We were all a bit worried that we would be banned from the treating with out them … or worse we were all headed to the ‘slammer’!

No worries!  he was offering some light sticks to US!

Jack is wearing that nice light stick in this photo. 🙂

It was fun.
