Eureka !

Crazy person that I am… I actually take snap shots while ‘skyping’.

Tonight Ted had hopped into a box… just because he could, I suppose.

So I snapped a skype shot probably because I could.

It took some back and forth and a bit of experimentation to find the saved snaps.

They were buried in Skype application data.  Not an option when importing the photo to Grammie Cass’s web post.

Longish story short, I figured out how to retrieve the photos so I could share with my loyal post followers. 😉

Here is Ted in a box.  ( I just knew you couldn’t wait!)

And now that I have this new found skill, here is a skype snap from quite a while ago:

How about a few more?

That’s all for tonight.

Miss those guys!

Skype helps.

The Latest Edition!

We have a new grandson!

Benjamin arrived on Tuesday, Jan. 18 along with a bunch of snow!

His Moms had to arrive early at the hospital for his scheduled arrival.

There was quite a bit of snow that day and the boys went out and cleared the drive way.

Tuesday night, Kate, Chris, Ted, Jack, and I took a ride to the hospital to see the new bambino.

On the way we stopped at Jackie’s Galaxy for some splendid food.

I told Chris I thought things went well…. no one spilled his milk. 🙂

Ben was a bit chilly after his birth, so we couldn’t hold him right away.  Kim was keeping him warm.

Auntie was the first (besides Anne and Kim of course!) to hold Ben.  From the looks of it he enjoyed it.

Oh!  There will be lots more to follow.

You can also check Kim’s and Anne’s  site for some excellent snaps of Ben.

Merry Christmas

And this one!

Life is good.

The 3rd for Jack

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

Two days early we celebrated Jack’s birthday.

Tacos were the fare.  They were yummy!  A special treat.

After eating our fill, we adjourned to the living room and Jack’s presents.

Kim and Anne planned a special surprise for this party.

With family and friends gathered they were planning to announce the gender of their second child!

They had read somewhere that  a fun way to make THE announce was to invite

family and friends to a party.  The expecting parents took a sealed envelope with the gender concealed inside to a bakery and ask that they

color the cake pink if baby is a girl or blue if a boy.  That way, when the cake was cut, the gender is revealed to all guests (and parents).

Here’s the cake!

Here is the singing.

And the envelope, please!

It’s a brother for Jack. from Cass Barrett on Vimeo.

It was a great idea, and a good thing the parents had a back up plan!

Kate and Ted flew into Boston for the big event. 🙂

Auntie opened her home to us.  We met in the Boston Garden and the boys had a great time at the playground.

The boys loved the city.

With Halloween around the corner, Jack tried out a monster hat.

The boys loved the stairs at Auntie’s .

Shopping at Whole Foods. 🙂

Next stop? Grammie’s!

(to be continued)

The Hair Thing.

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

My kids have been hearing about my hair

from early on  ….

and still it continues…..

Always with , “What am I gonna do with this crazy hair?”

Ooops that’s not me , that’s Mom!  And look at that great hair!

My Mom liked to keep my hair short.

There were hair cut episodes when I wanted to wear a paper sack over my head….. and one time I actually did!

As an adult I tended to wear it long.  Liked how easy it was to just pull it back in a ponytail.

Next thing you know ……

I needed to color the gray.

I figured colored hair wouldn’t hold up too well in a long ponytail, so I cut it to a medium length.

But it only looked good for a few minutes a day …. SERIOUSLY ! !

Mom wanted to see how gray I was.   Kim didn’t want to be grayer than me.  (She has a loooooooooooooooong way to go for that!)

Then my long time hair dresser retired from hair care!

Most of all, I was becoming tired of dealing with the roots. The roots, that’s what put me over the edge.

I made a pact with myself when I started to color, to stop coloring at age 60.

I’m a bit over 60 now.

The process was painful.  Temporary color to cover roots didn’t work.  Instead of washing out completely, it lightened and was a “lovely” shad of orange!

Silver, orange, and black.

It was not great.

My new hair dresser tried some tricky stuff trying to soften the harsh line from black to gray.

On about July, I had had it.

I went to my hair dresser and said, “cut it to the roots.  Cut all the color off.”

She was a bit nervous.  She asked, “how about I shorten it up and if you don’t like it  in two weeks, come back and I will cut it to the gray then.”

I only thought about that for a second or two and said, “cut it to the gray now.”

She said I was very brave.   🙂

(Actually, the truth is I’m just old.)

We were both amazed and pleased with the results!

Unfortunately, I have no photos of the cut that first few weeks.  This photo is 2 months into it.   I liked it better  at first.  It was spiky and edgy.  Drastic and surprising.

Now it is showing the curl.  And I can’t get it to stand straight up!

It is pretty much back to doing just as it pleases.  🙂

( Christine thinks that ‘s a good thing.  She didn’t like the wild look I was sporting)  Maybe some ‘dippity-do” …..

So to all the questions I get at work ….. here are some answers!

No,  it is not a summer cut.

No, it wasn’t to be simpler to take care of.

No, I didn’t think I would be ravishing if I cut it.

Though it was a vanity that made me cut it short….. very short.

Don’t get me wrong; I do love wearing my hair long.

But, ya know? I’ve been coloring it for quite some time now.  I needed to stop.
